Veritix Flash Seat Integration
Another ticket type?!
The problem: As StubHub has expanded, we have been partnering with other ticketing vendors to sell their tickets.  A company called Veritix began creating a product called Flash Seats.  This product was being used by teams around the globe to make sure people could not resell their tickets.  This proved problematic for StubHub because we could not use Flash Seat tickets.  What made the Flash Seat tickets difficult to scalp is that it was a completely digital ticket and the barcode on the digital ticket changed every 60 seconds.
We needed to integrate with this product and make sure that the tickets were accessible to our customer base.  By doing so we needed to also allow users to sell and transfer these specific tickets.  There was a tight deadline on this project because users needed to access the tickets by the start of the NHL season.  We were contractually obligated to meet this deadline.
Below is an promotional video from Veritix Flash Seats to see how they operate and what we had to incorporate:
The Goal
We wanted to include the new product into our current process and seamlessly allow our users to transfer and access these Vetitix Flash Seats without any issue.
The Process
We created a prototype and design that was tested on existing users who were unfamiliar with Flash Seats.  Our goal was to make sure users did not feel as though they had a ticket that was any different than their typical mobile ticket.
The Solution
A design and direction was taken where users could access their Veritix Flash Seat tickets from the iOS and Android application.  Additionally we wanted to make sure users could transfer tickets easily from one user to another user.  Finally, we wanted to make sure that the user did not have to login to a different account to access  their tickets.
The Results
We met our deadlines and completed this project in time for the NHL season.  The Flash Seats integration allowed users to access these specific tickets, transfer them to others, and sell them all within the StubHub application.  One issue that did arise is that if a user bought on the web, they could not access the website but would rather have to download our mobile application.  This sometimes confused users.  Also if the user did not have a Android or iOS device, they could not access these tickets at all.
