The problem: Esurance’s Android application was problematic to say the least. It was essentially a copy of the iPhone application pasted into Android OS. It had very little personality or design to it. Additionally, it did not have any new features that we had put into our iPhone application. A completely new Android application needed to be designed and built using many of the visual designs that our new iPhone app used.
The Goal
An entire new design language and design hierarchy would be needed for the Android application that would mirror the iPhone application without being an exact copy.
The Process
We leveraged our current iOS application and adapted the design for Android. Additionally we added new features and adapted the design to fit Android screens. We came up with an information architecture complementing the iPhone application's
The Solution
A completely new Android application was designed and developed that would become the basis for any further improvements and functionality. Our mobile application included all aspects of the iPhone application and allowed users to view their ID cards, manage their policy, get a quote, file a claim, record accident details, add vehicles and drivers to their policy, and get a new quote. This is currently the design that is being used by the Android app seen in the Google Store.
The Results
Although many changes and iterations of the application have occurred. Our design improved our rating within the store, diminished customer service calls, and allowed users to file a claim and manage their policy from their mobile phones.
