Multi-line quote
A responsive quote process
The problem: Esurance had a process that worked.  A potential new customer would come to our website from their computer and get a quote. Additionally the platform to view and buy and auto quote was not responsive.  My role was to take our old process and update it with new design standards and create a responsive process. This required a total new visual design as well as working with our developers to bring our designs to any interface.
The Goal
Our goal was to create a new design language and design for the quoting process within Esurance.  Our new website would need to be easier to use and also would need to be useful from any mobile device.
The Process
We worked with product managers, developers, and C level executives to design and test our new quote process.  We then conducted usability on users who were not familiar with Esurance.
A long series of HTML prototypes were coded by myself and tested. These fully coded prototypes were extremely effective because they not only communicated how we wanted our designs to look, but also how they could be coded.
To the left you can see my HTML prototypes.
The Solution
Our new platform was expanded upon and was tested in multiple locations.  This means that people who wanted to get an insurance quote in certain states would see our new experience.  Our new experience let users get quotes and purchase in a responsive environment.  This was a first for Esurance as we did not have a responsive website.  If this process showed positive results, then our mobile website would be replaced with this interface.
The Results
The responsive quote flow was a success as we saw much higher rates of finishing the quote process from mobile phones and tablets.  There was not strong change in quotes finished from a desktop computer however conversion did seem to go up during this time across all interfaces.
